How to work with layers
This tutorial will teach you how to work on layers using Flash MX 2004.

Please note: 1. You need to have Flash Player 7.0 installed to view the Flash animation. 2. Flash MX 2004 must be installed in your system to download the .fla file.
Steps to follow:
Open a new flash file (Ctrl+N). New Document window will appearSelect General panel and choose Type: Flash Document . Press OK.
If your timeline window is not open, press (Ctrl+Alt+T).
Now you can see a single Layer called "Layer1" in your timeline Window.
Open a new flash file (Ctrl+N). New Document window will appearSelect General panel and choose Type: Flash Document . Press OK.

Now you can see a single Layer called "Layer1" in your timeline Window.
now in the first layer of the time line u create the motion tween or open the previous file of motion tween which we done already.(ctrl+o= open : note : open the .fla file to see the layer file)
Simply now select the frames of the file and right click and select copy frames.
then go to the new file which we creating for using layers. in that first layer 1 right click and paste the frames.
then same as go and open the shape tween file and copy the frames and r come back here. now note that not to paste the frames in that same layer we have to create one new layer which is the important one in this tutorial.
To create a new layer see the below image and click the icon :

Now paste the frames by right clicking on the new layer named "Layer 2".we have to do the same, press CTRL+ENTER to see the output.the layers and time line should be like this:
